Our shop is located in Kochi Prefecture, a world-famous coral production area.We are a workshop that carries out integrated production of coral, from procurement of logs to loose processing, and jewelry, from design to processing of precious metals. Coral is a gemstone created by nature, and it is difficult to make the same loose gemstone because the colors and shapes of the raw wood vary widely. Sometimes there are items with very beautiful color gradations that cannot be expressed in words or grade, or items with beautiful shapes that cannot be created by human hands. These are also one of the charms of coral, a gem created by nature. We offer a variety of products, from high-quality items to accessory quality items, so please look for your favorite coral.
[Red coral] This is a type of coral that is collected in the seas near Japan, and is different from the coral that is collected in the Mediterranean Sea.There is always a white part called Shirofu in the center of the log, and it is cut to prevent it from showing as much as possible, but there is often a white part on the back side of the beads or loose pieces. It has a sense of transparency, and when carefully polished, it has a beautiful luster, as if covered with a transparent film. The dark color is red with a slight purplish tinge, giving it a noble feel. The most valuable type is the one with a particularly deep color, called blood red, and the area off the coast of Kochi Prefecture is especially rich.
[About gemstone coral] In general, corals that are processed as gemstones are made by polishing the bone shafts produced by living creatures called corals.
Corals are in the same family as jellyfish and sea anemones, and can be divided into hexagonal coralline and eight-lineal coralline, depending on the number of polyp tentacles. There are two types of coral: hard coral, which has a hard bone axis, and soft coral, which does not have a bone axis. Since the bone shaft of the six-point coral is fragile, eight-point coral is used as jewelry, but most corals are soft corals that do not have a hard bone shaft, and only some types of eight-point coral are processed into jewelry.
